Love Marriage from a Horoscope

Astrology of Love Marriages

While predicting, one should take no questions lightly. Although this question of whether I will marry a person of my choice that is love marriage in India seems futile and not of much importance, it matters and it is the most common question of youngsters these days.

Although it is a simple question, for me it has been very difficult to crack as not much has been written about it in the Shastra.

Now let’s get to it and break it down:

Desh Kala Patra

First and foremost is the desh kala Patra of the querist.

Desh: If he is not an Indian, then it will be a love marriage, as the custom of arranged marriages is prevalent only in India. Therefore, we will discuss about Indian Marriages in this article.

Kala: Kala means the times we are living in. These days’ love marriages in India are on the rise and even conservative families in the urban areas are ok with the idea of love marriage. Therefore, a youngster who is 25 years of marriage in 2017 might have a love marriage with few combinations of love marriage in his horoscope as compared to a 25-year-old in 1980s-1990s.

However, in old times one needed very strong promise and at the same time a very good dasha for love marriage to take place.

Therefore, we are more liberal with the combinations these days and slight combinations can give love marriage as well.

Patra: It means the society you are born in. While the same combinations might work for someone born in an open-minded family/ society/city but those combinations might not work for someone born in a very strict/conservative family/society.

Keeping these things in mind we can move further to the horoscope and check the combinations and match them with the dasha and use jaimini astrology to confirm. However, Parashari astrology and Vimshottari dasha gives good results in most cases.

Combinations

  1. Lagna Lord in seventh or seventh lord in 1st House

If in a chart lagna lord is in the seventh house or vice versa or exchange of the two or they have a solid connection via aspect or conjunction the native tends to go for a love marriage, and in many cases, someone from the childhood. But you should check other factors as well for this combination to materialize.

  1. 5th House of Emotions and Romance

5th House is the house of emotions therefore it is the house where love affairs begin. The seventh house is the house of marriage/spouse. If there is a combination of the 5th and seventh lords, then the native tends to have a love affair but bear in mind this combination doesn’t work alone as the dasha and the patra of the individual should also give the green signal.

5th and 8th house combinations also give secret love affairs hidden from family and maybe friends in a few cases.

  1. Seventh House

This is the most important house when looking for marriages be arranged or love, look for the placement of planets in the seventh house or conjunct seventh lord apart from 5th 7thlord combinations.

Saturn: Placement of Saturn in the seventh can give marriage with someone out of the community, with an age gap or an unconventional marriage.

Rahu/Ketu: Rahu Ketu axis in the 1-7 of a horoscope can also give love marriage with someone out of community especially if it repeats in the navamsha chart.

Venus: Placement of Venus in the seventh gives a tendency of making the native more sensuous and having more than one relationships. It makes it more true if this Venus is conjunct Moon.

Presence of benefics in seventh gives infatuations but very rarely leads to love affair/marriage.

All these combinations do not work alone there must be more than one factor working and one should check for repetitions in the D9 chart.

  1. Eighth House: Combination of 5th or 7th lord in the 8th house can lead to a love affair which may be hidden at first but these affairs don’t last long since 8th house is involved.

  1. Dasha: Dasha is the most important factor after seeing the promise in D1 and D9. Check for dasha running after calculating the potential age of marriage and look for periods of 5th house which can give love affair blossoming into a marriage

  1. Venus dasha: Venus dasha running during 20s is a strong combination of marriage of own choice especially these days if other factors support.

  1. Trimsamsa or D30 chart: D30 chart is also to be seen for marriages especially for females but I am still working on it.

  1. Jaimini Astrology: Confirm it with Jaimini by looking at DK Pk Combinations or Dk 5th lord and Pk 7th lord combinations along with chara dasha.

These are most of the parameters which give love marriages only in India.

Let us look at some examples:

Will add examples shortly

Predicting Marriages in Astrology

It is one of the most common questions asked to an astrologer: ‘When will I get married?’

If it is an Indian asking the question it is followed up by ‘Will it be Love or Arranged?’

Then they ask ‘How will it be?’. Well, you don’t need an astrologer to answer that one!

Let us try to understand the astrology behind it:

Seventh House is the house of spouse/marriage.

Venus is the karaka for the Seventh House.

In Rasi Chart,

  • First Check the promise of marriage.
  • See the Desh, Kaal, Patra.

Desh: Institution for marriages is different in different countries.

Kaal: The Times we live in average age of Boy/Girl for normal marriage in India is 26/24.

  • Check the time of Marriage- If it is early marriage, normal marriage, delayed marriage or no marriage.
  • Then Time the Marriage from the Dashas Running.
  • Shorten the time period to 6 months from Jaimini Principle.
  • Confirm all above parameters in the D9 i.e. Navamsa Chart.
  • Check Transit and Time the Marriage.

How to check above factors?

  1. PROMISE: The influence of Benefics, 11th Lord, Lagna Lord, 7th Lord, Venus on Seventh House will ensure Marriage.
  2. Approximate Time of Marriage: After checking Seventh House, Check 1-7,2-8 axis. If more Benefics are involved then it will be early marriage (21-25), if slightly afflicted- then normal (25-28), if majorly afflicted then delayed (after 30).
  3. Dasha: See these five factors always-
    1. Seventh House
    2. Seventh Lord
    3. Venus
    4. Seventh from Venus
    5. Rahu/Ketu

Dasha of planets connected to above factors running during the time of marriage (checked from point 2) will show marriage.

Let us understand it with an example:s

Seventh House has two benefics. Seventh Lord in neutral sign in fourth house. Seventh from Venus is unafflicted.

2-8 axis is afflicted. The time of marriage can be normal, since this is a male chart 24-28 years. He began Saturn dasha in 26th year and got married. Dasha SatSat. Saturn is the seventh lord.

Lets take another example:

dd1

Year of Birth 1960.

Seventh House is afflicted. Seventh Lord in 3rd with Venus and Sun(3,6,8 Lords).

2-8 axis: unafflicted.

The marriagable age should be beyond 26 but still this person got married at the age of 26 because of strong dasha running and supportive navamansha chart. Dasha: JupVen.

dd9

Venus the antardasha lord is with 7th Lord in D1(it is also karaka). It is in 7th house of D9.

This is why D9 is important.

Jaimini Astrology

Darakaraka(DK) is the charakaraka responsible for marriage in Jaimini Astrology. It is the planet with lowest degrees.

See the connection of DK with the Chara Dasha(K.N.Rao) running and time the marriage.

The overlapping of Dasha from Vimshottari and Jaimini is the time period of marriage.

Use Double Transit of Saturn Jupiter to confirm.

RAHU is independently capable of giving marriage.

Check this dasha period in D9 as well, if it is repeating then it is a certainty that this period will show marriage.

Case Study 02: Progeny/D-7 chart/Loss of a chid.

This is a peculiar case of a death of a child few days after she was born.

We will see the saptamsha chart of the father and this example will show us why it is so important to study the divisional charts.

k

This is the chart of the father of the child 29Oct1984 7:10 am New Delhi.

5th House: Aquarius

  • No planet placed and no aspect on 5th house.
  • 5th Lord Saturn exalted in lagna with Mercury and debilited Sun. Mercury is the 9th and 12th lord and Sun is the 11th lord. Though 5th lord is sitting in lagna with its enemy and 12th lord it does not justify the death of the child as it is not majorly afflicted.
  • Karaka Jupiter is in the 3rd House(Mooltrikona Sign) with Moon(10th Lord), Mars(2nd and 7th Lords) aspected by Saturn. It is in a good condition.

Birth of daughter: 5 December 2014. She passed 20 days after.

Dasha: Moon/Jupiter

Now, loss of the first child is not justified by first look at the rasi chart.

Look Again,

See the degrees of Saturn, Sun and Mercury.

Saturn is combust and is in a planetary war with Mercury. Saturn gets defeated in the planetary war with Mercury.

This same degree conjunction of 5th and 12th Lords led to the Loss of a child.

12th lord is also 8th from 5th House.

Moreover, Mercury is the 22nd Dreshkana Lord.

This clearly justifies the loss of First Child. Lets see Divisional Charts for Confirmation.

Lets see the navamsa chart now:

k9

Just see how the 5th lord of D1 is placed in the navamsa chart as we are only looking from the progeny point of view at the moment.

5th Lord of D1 i.e. Saturn moves to Taurus which is the 8th house of D1(not good). It is still conjunct with Mercury.

Lets see Saptamsa chart in detail:

k7

Independent Analysis:

Aquarius rising with 6th Lord Moon in Lagna: Not Good

Lagna is aspected by Venus(4th,9th Lord)

LagnaLord Saturn in Second House with 5th and 8th lord Mercury and 2nd and 11th lord Jupiter.

5th House aspected by 7th lord Sun.

5th lord Mercury is debilted in second house.

Again 5th and 12th Lords are conjunct of D7, confirming the event.(If you look at navamsa 12th lord of navamsa aspects 5th lord).

Dasha: Moon Jupiter. Moonis the 6th lord in lagna ad jupiter is marakesh of child with 5th lord.

Lets superimpose D1 and D7

Aquarius is rising which is the 5th House of D1.

Moon is present in Aquarius. Moon is the 10th lord of D1 and 6th Lord of D7.

Saturn the 5th lord of D1 moves to pisces that is the 6th House of D1 alongwith 6th and 12th lords of D1 Jupiter and Mercury. Clearly showing problems to progeny.

As in earlier Case Studies we saw the lords of D1 in the particular divisional chart give beautiful results. In this case Saptamsha.

How to read a Vedic Horoscope? Part 1 First House

In this article I am going to discuss from where to start a horoscope and how to read it and eventually predict.

Whenever you see a Horoscope always follow these steps instead of seeing all things at once and getting confused.

Remember the Desh, Kala, Patra before beginning.

Keep the following parameters in mind before judging any house:

  • House/Planets placed in the House.
  • Planets aspecting the house.
  • Lord of the House.
  • Planets Conjunct/aspecting the House Lord.
  • Significator/Karaka of the house.

  1. LAGNA/ASCENDANT/FIRST HOUSE:

Always see the sign rising in lagna first. The personality, physique, nature of a person will resemble that sign.

It is also the First House: First House represents Self, physical body, health, longevity, head, hair, brain.

taurus-ascendant

For e.g. If Taurus is rising in lagna then immediately think of qualities of a Taurus and those characteristics will be present in the person.

For learning the characteristics of any sign remember its image. Like Taurus is a Bull.

taurus_bronze

The person will be strongly built, will be full of energy, they are patient and steady, bulls are difficult to control once you provoke them but are mostly peaceful.

It is ruled by Venus so they love beauty, luxury and have refined taste.

Taurus is second sign of natural zodiac therefore they are materialistic and like to accumulate.

It is an earthy sign therefore making them practical.

It is a fixed sign making them rigid, and stubborn like a bull. They dislike change.

Like this you combine Sign and House characteristics for each house.

  1. Planet placed in the First House

After studying the sign check the planets placed in the lagna/first house. The person will majorly take on the characteristics of the planet placed.

For e.g. In Taurus lagna, if Moon is placed in the ascendant i.e.  first house. The person will have a cool temperament, will be good looking, will be creative, love music and art.

Combine characteristics of Moon and First House

Now Moon is in its exaltation sign, so all the good characteristics of Moon will be present in full effect.

Moon is the Third Lord for Taurus ascendant so he will be hardworking, will rise by self-efforts, courageous etc.

  1. Now check what planets aspect Lagna/First House

See what planets aspect lagna, are they malefic or benefic and what lordships they have. It will influence the first house of a person to that effect.

  1. Lagna Lord/ First House Lord

Only after checking all above parameters come to lagna lord i.e. Venus in this case.

Check where venus is placed, how is its strength in rasi chart and navamsa chart and concur accordingly. Then check the aspects on Venus and planets conjunct with venus.

For e.g. Venus is in Pisces that is its exaltation sign. Venus will be in 11th house of gains. The person will like to accumulate and will be born in a rich family and will have all the luxuries in life.

  1. Check the above planets strength in Navamsa Chart.
  2. Significactor/Karaka of first house: Sun

Always see the condition/strength of the significator a particular house, in this case SUN to come to a conclusion about health.

Similarly, check all other houses and have a basic idea in the back of your mind about each house and planet.

Now this was only the Static Promise, for timing and dynamic analysis see the dasha.

See what dasha the person is running and those results will be experienced according to planet’s strength and placement.

Last check the Transit. See which houses the slow moving planets aspect to come to a conclusion.

Let’s see an example to understand this:

sj

This is a female chart. Born in 1966.

Aries rising: Energetic, active, full of energy.

No planet is placed in lagna/ first house.

Saturn aspects lagna: Saturn is a natural malefic and in this case functional malefic as well. Therefore, it afflicts lagna/ first house. The person will have health issues especially in the dasha of Saturn.

Lagna Lord: Mars in twelfth House in a friendly sign but a trik/bad house. Again, indicator of weak health.

Mars is conjunct with Sun and Mer(R).

Sun is the fifth lord. Rajayoga in twelfth House i.e. 5th and Lagna Lord combination. But it is an adverse house.

Mercury is the 3rd and 6th lord (functional malefic) debilited in twelfth house. Now, lagna lord is conjunct with 6th lord again indicating health troubles related to nerves, skin since mercury represents those significations.

Mars is also 8th lord. 6th 8th lords conjunction will give chronic disease.

sjd9

Now in Navamsha Mars moves to scorpio which is its own sign but eighth house of horoscope showing some long lasting disease to body.

Mercury goes to virgo in navamsha which is its exaltation sign, showing Mercury is strong and has inherent strength of giving diseases.

She is always ill and frequently gets hospitalized. It has been a tendency throughout her life since her lagna lord is in twelfth and conjunct with 6th lord.

Similarly, check all other houses and see then see the dasha and transit and predict.

SadeSati: An Easy Way to Judge Using Ashtakvarga

https://youtu.be/WRokNhOHbn0

In this article I am going to discuss an easy way to Judge SadeSati for a person. This method was taught to us by our teachers at BVB and is mentioned in the book Transit by Col A.K Gour.

Basic Ashtakvarga Knowledge is essential to understand this article.

No wonder I am writing this article on a Saturday. This method involves the use of Ashtakavarga. We need both Sarvastakvarga(SAV) and Bhinnashtakavarga(BAV) charts.

What is SadeSati?

Sadesati is a period of 7.5 years of Saturn Transit over 12th,1st and 2nd Houses from one’s natal Moon.

Saturn takes two and a half years to transit one sign. So when Saturn comes to 12th House from one’s Natal Moon, Sadesati starts. Saturn spends 2.5 years in each house which brings us to a total of 7.5 years.

Now since Saturn is a slow moving planet and is a karaka for miseries and delays its interaction with ones natal moon which represents mind, brings about mental agony and depression. Which leads to depression, frustration during this period. Now this mental agony is always due to something not happening right for you in some physical domain in your chart. The source for that reason lies in the dasha and transit influence of Saturn.

Not all SadeSatis are bad, for this you have to check Ascendant rising and Saturn and Moon’s placement and strength in a chart and also the Dasha running. But since in this article I am gong to explain to check it in  a short way I will straight away move to Ashtakvarga.

Check The Ashtakvarga points in 12th,1st,2nd Houses from moon in SAV and BAV of Moon and Saturn.

For eg: If someone’s Moon is in Scorpio, then check SAV points in Libra Scorpio and Sagittarius. If the SAV points are less then 23(28 is neutral) then the Saturn transit over that rashi is going to be bad.

Now check Moon’s BAV for that rashi. If there are less then 3 points(4 is neutral) especially if there are 0,1,2 points the period is going to be troublesome.

Similiarly check Saturns BAV as well.

Let us understand this with an example:

ss1

Presently Saturn is transiting in Scorpio. It is in second house from this person’s natal Moon. Therefore he started Sadesati when Saturn was in Virgo. His Sadesati will end when Saturn will Transit to Sagittarius in Jan2017.

Now lets understand how his Sadesati will be from Ashtakvarga method.

Tula/Libra is rising with Moon(kemdruma) in it.

Dasha running durin 7.5 years of SadeSati: SatMer, SatKe, SatVen, SatSun,SatMoon.

When Saturn was in Virgo and Scorpio, these period were terrible for him. He was depressed mentally and low on confidence.

Now let us check SAV Chart:

ss2

Points in 12th House from Natal Moon: 17

Points in 1st House from Natal Moon: 31

Points in 2nd House from Natal Moon: 22

BAV Chart of Moon and Saturn:

Points in 12th House from Natal Moon: 3

Points in 1st House from Natal Moon: 5

Points in 2nd House from Natal Moon: 1

ss4

Points in 12th House from Natal Moon: 1

Points in 1st House from Natal Moon: 3

Points in 2nd House from Natal Moon: 2

Clearly All 3 SAV and BAV charts show weak points in 12th and 2nd houses from Moon and this was the toughest period for the native.

Similarly we can check all sadesati periods from this technique and give a snapshot prediction. But start with Promise, Dasha and then only come to TRANSIT.

Case Study 01: Vehicular Accident/D-16

Vehicular Accident

s

This individual met with a bike accident in the dasha of Jup/Mar/Rahu.

Promise: Connection of 4 and 6 Houses/lords is one of the criteria for vehicular accidents. In this case 6th lord Sat is in the fourth house.

So the promise of accident is there.

Venus the karaka is comfortably sitting in its mooltrikona sign but is in paapkartari also aspected by jup. The vehicle wasn’t damaged much in the accident.

Check D-16 as 4th house in D-1 can mean many other things aswell, so we confirm in D16 as it is the chart for conveyances.

d

Here 4th lord of D1 and 6th lord of D1 are conjuct in the 8th house which is the 6th house of D1 confirming the chances of accident.

D16 independent analysis: LagnaLord and 4th lord in 12th house aspected by 12th lord.

*Studying D1 lords in D16 shows us the picture more clearly in this case.

Now the question comes When?

Well, it can be in the antardashas of Saturn(6th Lord) or Mars(4th Lord). Both are in the 8th house in D16.

Dasha at the time of accident: Jupiter/Mars/Rahu. This individual met with a bike accident and damaged his left knee for life and underwent 5 major surgeries.

Antardasha of Mars already discussed.

Rahu’s Pd gave the final blow as it is in the 8th house in D1 and aspected by Mars/Mer.

This individual has to be careful in Sat/Mars Dasha too as there is a chance of another accident.

New things to learn in this example:

Technically the dasha of Jup/Mars should have been excellent for him as it was his yogakaraka dasha but it wasn’t the case.

D16 gave us a clearer picture about the accident.

How to read a Navamsa chart?

“If Birth Chart is a tree, Navamsa chart is the fruit in that tree.”

K.N.Rao

Navamsa is the ninth division of a horoscope and is one of the most important divisional chart to be studied along with the  D-1/ main chart. In the Vimshopak Bala given by Parashara  it is given 3 points after shastiamsha and the birth chart. Shastiamsha/D60 is given the highest weight-age of 4 points higher than the birth chart which has 3.5 points.

Clearly D60 is the most important chart but since it changes every two minutes the accuracy of its lagna is doubtful as in most of the charts, the timing is off by a few minutes.

The Birth Chart changes every two hours and so many children are born in the same state during those two hours, each having same lagna. Their fates will change according to the paatra but not all will have similar destiny. That is where navamsa and other divisional charts come into picture.

Navamsa Chart has to be read in following ways:

  1. To check the strength of a planet: The most important use of the navamsa chart is to check if the planet is really strong. If a planet is exalted in the birth chart and debilitated in the navamsa then the planet’s inherent strength is not there. The planet will only give good results in the first half of its dasha and will give poor results in his next half and vice versa. This is the reason why we should also check the planet’s dignity and strength in navamsa before reading a chart.
  2. Read it independently: Some astrologers read it as a mirror chart to the main chart and confirm the events. If D1 and D9 show the same event for eg: In a students chart, in D1 5th lord has connection with 12th house/lord and the dasha is also running then the education can be outside the home city(one of many things). If the same combination of the D9 lords repeats then it is a certainty.
  3.  Marriage Chart: This chart is read independently to know all the attributes of spouse and to time the marriage of an individual as well.
  4. RasiTulya Navamsa: It is the super imposition of navamsa chart over rasi chart, i.e. keep the rasi chart lagna as it is and place the planets in the horoscope as per their positions in the rasi chart. It tells us how the lords have shifted in the navamsa and can be used to predict as well.

Therefore it is important to read the Navamsa Chart/D9 always along with D1.
