Jyotisha or Vedic Astrology has been around for thousands of years. It is one of the six vedangas (limbs of the vedas). It involves the study of planets from a geocentric view(earth’s point of view). The astronomical values mentioned about the distance and movements including size of planets in our solar system are very close to accurate as per today’s standards. It forms a theme for studying time for an individual, society and nation. It is based on the concept of karma and reincarnation. The main objective for an individual as per most jyotisha works was to aid in spiritual development and overall upliftment.

The relation between grahas(planets) on individuals is tough to imagine or comprehend but there might be some intricate reasoning behind it which we do not understand fully at this time. It brings the Microcosm-Macrocosm analogy into picture as-well.

On a deeper level, it makes us wonder the connection between destiny and free-will. If it is destined, what is the role of free-will and much more.
